Waffle Wednesday

The end of summer has been a blur of chasing kids and cramming in the last fun things on my mental list. We went swimming twice, visited some parks, including Rockwood Park where we saw live animals and bees in cool tunnels connected to outside.  Tuesday we had a great time at the summer dollar movie viewing of "Rio 2." The music produced by was so "popping!"

We also celebrated Ashley's upcoming baby. She is due August 20 and you can't even tell in this photo! Sarah, Ashley and I went to Pasture and sampled some small plates like crunchy clam strips with homemade slaw and pimento cheese and ritz crackers in a brown bag with some yummy local beer. I tried a grapefruit shandy that was really refreshing.

We had some great girl time and I can't wait to meet baby Mason (ps - love that name). And we all matched the restaurant's turquoise decor.

Sunday night we had Sarah and Matt and their kiddos over and went to the lake and had a bbq after. I love Sunday lake nights and how swimming and tubing make it seem like you are on vacation even if you are right by your home. We are really loving it. The kids will miss swimming and the little turtles down there this fall. We call it our neighborhood cocktail hour on Sundays because you always see your neighbors on the beach.

Waffle Wednesday today! I used the pancake ratio method and added 1/4 cup of whole milk yogurt with 2 teaspoons of oil or melted butter.  Don't you love these shark utensils from Pottery Barn in honor of Shark Week?! They are not available anymore, but here is something similar.

Happy hump day! Doing anything fun these last few weeks of summer? I still want to hit the beach and visit a local cave!
